Origins:

Oblivion is a secretive group of greatly skilled Xiphossians, and is largely viewed as evil by those who know of its existence. The leader of this group is Zero Ultima, though it's said that they follow the orders of the mysterious entity called Oblivion. Since its creation, Oblivion never has been really active, it only slayed powerful warriors at times, capturing their souls. That is until now, it seems they are interested in both the Naraku Family and Oozora Family.

Purpose:

As of now the only thing known is that they're hunting strong warriors' souls. In "Final Resurrection" their main targets are Kasai Naraku and Yuki Oozora.
